Different Types of Advertising

Advertising

Advertising is basically a commercial communication that uses a publicly advertised, non-identifiable message to advertise or promote a product, idea or company. Common sponsors of advertising are usually large corporations trying to promote their goods or services to the general public. However, there are also many individual consumers who also engage in this practice as well. The most common type of advertising that occurs in most newspapers and other types of publications is called” advertiser advertising” or “marketing advertising”.

Basically advertising is about self expression. It is the ability to tell stories and tell them well so that when people look back they can understand and relate to the content. Advertising is essentially a form of communicating with your target market, but there are more complex forms than just that. It can be said that advertising is essentially all forms of communication involving some degree of the media and the people who respond to that medium.

One good example is television advertising or more commonly known as advertising on television. Television advertising is one of the oldest forms of advertising, it actually started back before the first television set was ever used. TV advertising uses commercials, music, animation, visual images and sometimes text to inform viewers of a new product or service. Some of the more popular forms of advertising on television include advertising on music channels, video ads, short-run television programming, reality shows and popular television shows like Wheel of Fortune.

Another form of direct marketing is online advertising. Online advertising can be either paid-per-click cost per mile, or cost per click. It generally is displayed on various websites that cater to a particular product niche. Examples of popular online websites include those that sell medical equipment, home appliances, electronics and auto parts. Other popular line advertising includes advertisements that are placed on search engines, travel websites, job search websites and consumer websites.

Print advertising is still a major component of most marketing campaigns and is also very popular when it comes to direct marketing. Print advertising includes both newspaper ads and magazines. Most people only associate print with newspapers, however many companies print both online and offline advertisements on various newspapers and magazines. Some examples of magazines that publish both offline and online advertisements are People, Nuevo Times, Lifestyles and Elle. Most celebrities endorse products through print advertisements and there are numerous print advertisements in magazines including People, Shape, Brides and Allure. Printed ads for services and goods generally tend to be the most effective when it comes to branding and reaching the target audience.

The effectiveness of any type of advertising campaign largely depends on the type of target audience and the campaign itself. For example, a television campaign, although it targets a broad audience, is not as effective if it only targets people who are more likely to purchase the product or service being advertised. Likewise, print advertising is not effective if the target audience is mostly men and women and social media advertising is not highly effective if the target is mostly men and women. In each of these situations, the most effective type of advertising will be a combination of different types of advertising. This will ensure that the best results can be achieved.
